ODS Announces Staff Changes
The Office of Disability Services (ODS) announces the following recent staff changes.
Katie DeFoe is our newest coordinator. She will be a primary contact for students requesting disability accommodations, beginning with the introductory meeting that students have with our office. Katie will be an important resource for students as they manage their accommodations through their college career.
Katie was previously director of disability services at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) and assistant director of the Disability Studies program at The City University of New York (CUNY) School of Professional Studies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Georgetown University, a master of science degree in education from Bank Street College of Education, and a master of arts in disability studies degree from The CUNY School of Professional Studies.
Marguerite “Ketty” Ombadykow is our new unit administrator for alternate format text (AFT) and assistive technology (AT). She will be helping students manage their needs related to instructional material conversions, i.e., Braille and Kurzweil, and use of assistive devices, i.e., Livescribe SmartPens and JAWS screen readers. Ketty will be located at the ODS office in the Alexander Library. She will also be working across the University assisting faculty in the preparation of accessible course materials, and she will represent ODS on accessibility and technology committees.
Ketty joins ODS with a background in both corporate and educational environments. She holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Pennsylvania State University, completed requirements for a master’s degree in computer science from NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, and holds a masters of education, Teacher of Students with Disabilities/Special Education degree from The College of New Jersey.
Shahida Khaliq has moved to the exam office. She and Marie Lisa will be working with students, faculty and staff on the administration of exam accommodations.
Finally, we say farewell to Margee Greenberg, who retires at the end of June. Margee has been a coordinator with ODS for seven years. We wish Margee all the best as she begins a new chapter in her life.
